U13 ADM factory dimmer on U13 JDM
« on: Jan 11, 2007, 04:30PM »
Hey guys this one is a little tricky.

I bought a dimmer switch from a ADM U13 a few months ago to replace the crappy looking dimmer that has been put in my Attesa for compliance.

Now question is how to wire it up, the ADM dimmer has 4 different pins coming out of it, while the compliance dimmer has only 2 (positive and earth). So I was wondering what what the other two pins are for, I have got it wired up at the moment so it completes the circut and the cluster lights come on but the dimmer dose not actually work (always on bright) so its most likely a stab in the dark but dose anyone think they can help me out, I'm pretty hopeless with electronics.

At a guess, the Aus switch should just be a potentiometer (variable resistor).
Put a multimeter across two pins at a time, set the multimeter to measure for resistance (the ohms symbol) and then rotate the dim switch. Keep swapping pins and eventually you should find that across 2 of the pins, the resistance changes as you rotate the switch. These are the 2 pins that you need to hook up.
(hope this all makes sense....)

There will be two that change resistance like greenbird said, and the other two will be for illumination of the button when your park lights are on.

Find the two dimmer pins first. The other two pins will be for illumination.
