6"'s up the front
« on: Sep 18, 2005, 02:21AM »
Hey All!

Just a quick question, has anyone actually managed to install 6" speakers up the front of their Pintara without spacers or cutting crap out of their door? I just got some eclipse speakers to replace what was in the rear from when I bought the car (clarion speakers) and wanted to put the 6" clarions in the front doors (which at the moment are clarion 5" speakers strangely). Almost fits but just doesnt..... the actual door panel has trouble getting back on. I notice that there is like an oval protrusion of plastic on the inside of the speaker covers (on the inside of the door panel). For those of you that have managed to Install 6"'s up the front, did you have to cut this protruding plastic off? Also, If i was to install splits up the front, would I need to cut a hole on the door for the tweeters, or could I just mount them somewhere that would avoid me hacking up my door (as you can tell I dont really/too scared to do this  :P )

Cheers!

Read this:

Basicly:

- 6.5" speakers will need new wholes drilled into the door.

- U dont need a spacer altho i highly recommend 1.

- if u have a spacer u will need to cut the door trim wood/board to fit it in.

depends on how deep the speaker is, i think theres about 45mm to play with, if i remember correctly

ok cool cheers for that!

The actual speakers fit into the door trim as it looks like its allready been cut to allow the 5"'s to fit through, however its the oval protruding trim that seems to be causing the fitting problem. I dont really think its a stock setup anyway, as it would otherwise have the 6x4's in there.

Hey daniel where did you actually mount the tweeters on the door? Did you cut out a little hole for them or just mount them behind the trim (so they are not visible)
