standard headunit in 1990 trx
« on: Jul 7, 2005, 01:17AM »
while i'm saving up for my new head unit.. i've installed my old amp up in the boot, but do you guys know if the standard headunit has a remote turn on lead to activate the amplifier??.. i know all aftermarket ones should but i've save up that much yet..
i don't want to take the time to take out the deck if there is no lead..
your help would be appreciated

im taking this out either tonight or tomorrow night so i will be able to tell you then but i would say no they wouldnt have RCA output sockets. Its really rare for an old stock radio to have them, unless its a good brand, ie pieoneer or kenwood.

Sorry i couldnt of been much help, but i will answer ur question if no-1 eles does in 1 day

the standard headunits in TRX's, T's, GLi's and executives don't have a remote wire

i'm not sure about the H/U's in Ti's though as they came out with their premiun sound unit's with eq's and all

wires you'll have on the back are

12v constant
12v switched
12v Negaitve also acts as the single negative for all four of your speakers

four single speaker wires

and thats it (if i can remember correctly :P)

no worries, the premium one (with eq) must have been standard or at least an option on TRX's but as for the T they only came with the poxy type a as you put it (note this is just for future reference in cas anyone is interested)

You just need a 12volt singnal form an acc wire. The easiest way is to tap into you Acc wire in your heaunit and run that to your amp.

Either did mine bungs, it was definitely the original TRX head unit with the equaliser and no RCA's.
Perhaps Ashman is getting the antenna plug confused with RCA's :P ::)
