Depends where you are. Here in WA it's a minimum 333mm, or 13 inches.

Easy way to find out, go to Google and search for "Department of Transport", click on whichever one applies to which state you're in, then search that site for "steering wheel size" or something similar.
Current mods:
ANTRX.com KA24E Stage 2 ECU chip (5kW)
ANTRX.com sticker (30kW) ;D

... that's about all.

I think you can go 1 inch smaller in diameter than your original wheel in Qld.

in QLD 350mm is the smallest "legal" wheel that can be fitted but some coppers will still say "you cant have that wheel mate" i even had one cop say to me "to make that wheel legal will cost you over $50 000 dollars", what a tosser i think he was stealing from the A class drugs locker :D

If you know your rights and your car is legal then dont put up with there crap.
Had a TRX, then a U13

Now i got a mz20 soarer....yeah im a traitor!

Looked it up but they dont give us nothing for free over here. Apparently i have to buy the book of ADR's and ask for wheels that coimply with the ADR's, which im not interetsted in. I might be buying an Autotecnica wheel on sale at autobarn atm... 139.

Cheers anyway

Sorry to dig guys, but i found some info that the SA boys might be interested in. The DTEI (department of transport, energy and infrastructure) says that for a steering wheel to be legal in SA it must be 330mL diameter or more, and needs to be ADR approved. I rang them, so dont dispute my facts.

BUT, also heard something about legalities regarding boss kits for the wheels in SA. Apparently they must be collapsable or something, but thats another story.

In short, DTEI say 330mL min and ADR approved.

In Qld:

Quote
Steering wheels
Altering a steering wheel might affect a vehicle's
compliance with the Australian Design Rules (ADRs)
applicable to occupant impact protection.
Steering wheels fitted to vehicles manufactured to
comply with ADR 10/.. may only be replaced by a
steering wheel which has been tested to comply with
ADR10/... Where these ADRs apply, the vehicle's steering
column and steering wheel are designed to minimise
injury to the driver in the event of a crash.
Vehicles that are required to comply with ADR 69/.. or
ADR 73/.. or where originally fitted with a driver airbag
must not be fitted with a replacement steering wheel
without an airbag, unless it is supplied by the vehicle
manufacturer as an option for that model.
The diameter of any replacement wheel may be up to
25mm smaller than the original wheel but must not
be less than 350mm.

The cop who handed me my defect told me in QLD the wheel has to be 350mm on 2 axis. I told him it was but it was up to the cop to decide what axis to measure ... ASS
