Using a bloody camry engine, thats put me off the car. Until they start setting some serious performance figures.

you do realise the elise uses a corolla engine dont you? its not about the engine, its about the power to weight ratio.

yes but that engine has been proven to provide good power, response and reliable.
I want to see what the ultra-high performance two-seater version is going to use, just read that other engines may be used.

i dont think the 3.5 camry engine would be that bad in a sub 1000kg car.. its 200kw and 360Nm on 91 octane, surely lotus would tune it a little.. actually its the aurion engine, but in reality thats still a camry.. the camry is strictly a 4 cyl in the current models, we have them for work cars and i have to say they're pretty ordinary.

YOur right noss they are modifying the engine

For Project Eagle Lotus has modified Toyota’s 3.5-litre V6, with dual VVT-i (‘intelligent’ variable valve timing) for optimum performance.

Still they seem to be refining it by adding all the extra features, traction control, cruise, stability, luggage compartments,

I've always liked lotus's
Their design philosophy of light weight and minimal comfort features and no driver aids has been appealing.
Due to the fact that they train the driver to drive a car and not a car that drives the driver.

I was looking at new cars, 3 final ones were a lotus exige/elise, evoX and 350Z ( or replacement)
still looking, mainly gotta make sure i can afford it

You call this a Lotus interior:

That black stuff better not be carpet. And where's the fire extinguisher where your feet are meant to go?

How about a proton.. they apparently have the same designers so they gotta be half decent???  :-\
Looks the same on the interior also.

But seriously, shurely they could have used something smaller than a 3.5lt V6 to get 200kw?
Anyways, as nice as they are, i'm personally not convinced they are at all practical.  Drivers car definately, but only for the weekends.

the 350z sux compared to them 2.

I'd invest in a lotus elise.
