Greetings, and salutations!
« on: Jun 20, 2008, 05:55PM »
My first post, after been hanging around the threads for quite some time.
Name is Himi, nick of darahhitam means blackblood, with respect to my strong interest (since the age of eight) in Metal music.  :D

I currently drive a 1996 Nissan U13, MDM, with some JDM add-ons.
My other ride (weekend thrashing ride) is a Proton/Mitsubishi.
Former ride is a Proton too, but that is when I was in Newcastle (that's Newcastle in UK, Land of the Geordies, 96-99)
Am attached to education institution now (and since 2000), and by July 1st, will be attached to one of Australian University local campus here, in Malaysia.

For my rides, more can be found here: http://www.cardomain.com/id/darahhitam

Am also a regular in local nissan forum (http://nismoclub.6.forumer.com), general auto-enthusiasts forum (http://www.zerotohundred.com & http://www.autoworld.com.my) plus some obscure ones as well.  ;D
I'm on the facebook too.   :D

Cheers.

Some snapshots of my main ride.

Latest project I did was to have the rear glass with wiper installed. MDM doesn't come with rear wiper.

Sadly we don't have a winter season here, just a year-long (humid) summer with tropical rain during monsoon season.  :D
But yeah, it works perfectly esp when driving off to work early morning, clearing the mist, fallen leaves and whatnot.  ;D

Hey Budgie, are you in bluebirdcarclub.co.nz? Your nick seems awfully familiar...

Budgie, really? No wonder my postings have note been replied in ages!

Ammerty, thanks, the grille is a stock Series 2, but sprayed black  ;D
All MDM Bluebird/Altima SSS came with a boring Series 1 grille.

Drift Princess, you drive a Daihatsu? Plenty of those (rebadged ones) here in Malaysia. (Toyota)Passo/(Daihatsu)Boon/Mira/Cuore/Terios.

Jazzie,
I have even forgotten that I've actually registered to this forum a couple of years ago, until I realized the nick has been registered.  ;D

Could be registering last time to gain the access to the photos and whatnot. Man, my U13 could've been a "virgin" by then.   :P

Yeah, I've to several forums and a number of them stood out, really. While a number of then just swallows the whole thing (read: too many mixed up posts between models, up to the point you can't even find what you want, even with the search button), or just plain unfriendly and hostile.
I think that's not the case here right?
What happened to bluebirdcarclub.co.nz actually? Any particular reason why it's dying down, a slow death?

Will do, and I believe a couple of 'em are already here, maybe just a silent "reader".  ;D

And here's some shots of the U13 that made it to the local car mag, months after the first owner sold it off.  :P
It was "comprehensively" done, inside out (minus the 4WD) with the guy ordering the entire HNU13 from Japan, cut into half - well, that's the regulation here, or else, the price will be triple fold with the tax and whatnot.
He swapped in Pulsar's SR20DET though, and sold off the existing SR20DET.
Now the car has been sold to another guy who's not in the forum - and it suddenly come up in a magazine!

Everything else is JDM, except for rear lip, it was taken from Ceffy A32.

Just to share some close ups of the custom hood.
No, it's not CF.

None of the U13 here uses CF, same goes to U12, but a number of 'em customize it, with add-on vents/scoops, etc and had it sprayed black or "CF weavin' colour". It costs bloody expensive to have on here, or worse to order from the States. Lucky 93-97 States model have plenty of aftermarket options.

Foot note: The shiny, autoshow-level neat, clean rides are mostly weekend rides for most of these guys, while the plain janes commonly belong to those who use it daily to/from work.

That includes myself.  ;D

 :D

I couldn't agree more. Even with S2 rear end, considering the S2 rear bumper + end caps is already less crappy, IMO.
Could be the way the back end just going lower and lower like a Hyena. It helps with the aerodynamics (and space) I suppose. What's the Cd for the U13? 0.34? The 2nd gen altima is 0.32.

here's a shot of the S2 endcap+bumper.  ;D

1 of the 2 U13s had new headlights fitted to theirs from Sonar.

Mine has been DIY-polished like nobody's business, to prevent it from "yellowing" - it doesn't help when my new workplace has no sheltered carparks.

Apparently there are much much more U12s than U13s on the Malaysian road..  it just happens that I'm a U13 user so I tend to post up U13 pics.. ;D

Shall post some good-looking U12s if I come across one.

The BDV759's taillights are actually stock taillights that went thru "whitening process", which is the removal of the amber layer of the markers.

But in order to do that, they need to find the stock taillights that look like this:

the type that has a clear layer on top of the amber layer.

Aftermarkets (exterior-wise, esp the lightings) for the U13 here in Malaysia is far and between.
Yet, a couple of us did manage to get one (albeit on a very high side).
DEPO, Sonar from Taiwan.

The rest just settled with JDM lips and skirtings and own "creativity", so to speak.  ;D
Engine and powertrain-wise are not that bad, plenty of skillful mechanics here plus the availability of SR-related parts are quite abundance.

Serena's C24/X-Trail's clear side markers are known to fit the U13, and Sentra N16's all-round skirtings have also been applied beautifully to a U13.

here's the one that uses Sentra N16's aftermarket, on the U13.

And yes, this car is one of the earliest (if not the first) to use the aftermarket taiwanese head and taillights. Nobody knows who the owner is, as it was spotted by the roadside but some suspected that he works at one of the Nissan's Sales Branches.

darn it, so that's what you guys call the yellow-headlight-infested-syndrome for U13 market elsewhere eh?  :D
how much $$ is the replacement for the stock (glass) one down there?  Any good supplier who can actually ship it over to Malaysia?

to solve the "yellow poo-ness" issue, three of the guys had theirs installed and showed off to the rest of the drooling and deprived owners.  ;D

The silver one is on DEPO

while the black and maroon is on SONAR.
Maron, however, has SONAR on taillights as well as DEPO for the front markers.

comparo: left = stock standard, right = depo

some of the on-going projects by the local U13 community. Still very much in the design stage though.
Getting the majority votes.

It's been a while since I drop by this thread/board.

Just sharing something that might pick some interest in some of ya.

Someone locally managed to fit in Legacy's driving/foglights onto the Series 1 U13 Front Bumper.

Check out his end product. Not too bad eh? (Photos are courtesy of miee, nismoclub malaysia)

Haven't been to many wreckers lately, but a short trip to one last weekend was a good one.
Found myself a hard-plastic rear shade that has a small "nissan" wording on it. I am aware of gold-ish hard plastic (with stripes) that came with some of the halfcuts found at wreckers, but black tint?
Thought it's from an A32 but it seems like it fits the U13 almost 98%.
Note the slot for third brake light.

Once installed (in a hurry, though)

Ignore the Swift/Cultus AB44's mid reflector + Jap plate number, those are meant for wifey's ride  ;D

Quick Q -

Wifey will be in Melbourne for 2 weeks from Jan 29, 2009. Just wondering will there be a good Nissan Parts shop you'd recommend around there? That is easily accessible and of course, affordable. She'll spend most of the times in Clayton/Gippsland though.

Looking to get a pair of GLASS U13 headlights. how much is it in AUD?
