Engine Mount Torques
« on: Nov 8, 2004, 04:59PM »
Hi all,
I am replacing the front engine mount (behind the radiator)this weekend and I do not have the torque for the bolts. Can anyone out there post the torque settings for the 91 TRX 2.4L if known?

Thnx

It's either a 4T or 7T grade  M14 bolt, have a look on the head of the bolt and there should be a number, if it's a 4 the tightening torque is...

74Nm or 7.5kg-m or 54ft-lb

If it's a 7 the tightenig torque should be...

127Nm or 13.0kg-m or 94ft-lb
according to the factory service manual.

You'll have fun fitting a torque wrench down there:P

Thanx TasR.X.
The proper torques are better than the old method of tighten until it creaks and back off 1/4turn. I'll get that TW in there even if I have to dismantle the engine components etc around it :P.

Do it up untill its tight and then grunt it round about 1/4 turn. The bolts that go into the motor dont need to be as tight, but you wont break a 14mm bolt :)
you can get out of a ukrainian prison for 2 packs of marlbro and a bottle of vodka....

have you ever replaced yours? If not, then do worry about it unless you feel some form of engine movement.
