gawd... and i thought mine was bad..

has anyone had any experience using the plastic film rather than the spray?  i would have thought it would be easier to use..

i saw a roll of the stuff for like $5, and i thought about tinting the rear lights
Project Siltara has been chipped, nismofied and getting exhausted

change your coolant temp sensor. Mine looked a bit like that and now- ZERO soot.

tinting tail lights- just make sure its not too dark, it does help other motorists to see when you brake. That is a pet hate of mine, cars with dark tinted out taillights you can't even see their brake lights.
First a Silver TRX, then a White TRX...whats next? Game Boy-Clear style TRX?

What side is it applied to, the outside of the plastic (exposed side) or the inside (boot side, ie. plastic has to be removed)?

well if i do it it'll probably be on the holidaes so you might have to wait...but if you
don't mind waiting if i do it i'll post some pics up....i just dunno whether to apply to
outside or inside...the inside seems more logical but outside you might get more
coverage of the light....whatever...might just have to try it...i think i'll get my windows
tinted to so the 2 together may look sweet

The film only works on big areas that only curve one way (e.g. windows, or the front bar indicators) You'd have a heap of wrinkles in it if you used it on the rear lights.

nah it goes on the outside... cant really see it working on the inside of the plastic at all, part from diming the brightness of the light

To get the tail lights off... just open the boot and there are some black cap things on the other side of the lights inside the boot, they pull off and then you undo the bolts or whatever there is and yank the plastic off... sorry I can't be too descriptive I did it ages ago.. basically just be confident and if it isn't coming off completely, like it's sticking at one area, see if you've missed a bolt.

Re: tinting rear lights

There's a tar-like sealant that seals the lights into the boot. Just undo the nuts off the back of the lights, unplug the wiring harness, then if you can't push the lights out from inside the boot, make sure you have all the nuts off then sit in the boot and push them out with your feet.

It's easier to get the lights out if you park your car in the sun for an hour or so beforehand to heat up the sealant.

EDIT: I just remembered seeing a DIY article on boostcruising.com a while back, the guy left his lights in, masked all the bodywork around them and painted them with NightShades.

Yeah that sealant was a worry when I first took the lights off, I didn't know about it and I freaked when I was taking it off, luckily it was at a wreckers yard and it wasn't my car (and the car had been sitting in the sun all day).

Oops, forgot to mention the wiring stuff, cheers Jono.

Hey guy, decided to get the metho out this arvo and get rid of the tint.

in my opinion it looks a little dodgy, prob cos i did a crap job.

but i may redo it and make sure its a little lighter and then ill gloss it up with the GLOSS coat.

That looks good. Just thinking if it would look ok on a corsair. You would have to tint the middle strip too so would it look too much or what. maybe some photochoping is needed.
