so this is an entirely self indulgent thread to distract me from my work.. most people know that i want to buy xx different car every other week, so i thought i'd start writing down some of the cars i want and then maybe, down the track, i might look back and cringe
every car i will be posting up will be a car i could actually afford if i spoke to the bank (i know cause i checked how much i can get from them to see if i can buy the first car i'm posting lol) but the other idea of this thread is to get the idea of buying a new car out of my system, save my money and finish my 492nd turbo manifold for my car and get it going.
feel free to reply and join in with what cars you want to buy.. or express your love or hate for my selection of automotive porn.
anyway.. i'll start it here.. i'll try to only post one a week.. but sometimes, sometimes i have weeks where i want to buy about 17 different cars
here goes...
jaguar XK8 hnu12 pillarless hard top superleggera edition.
the one in particular i'm looking at is a black 97 model located in melbourne for the brilliant sum of $45k. so to start with, to get the thing it covers two of my favourite things.. buying a new car and going on an awesome roadtrip.. throw in 3rd favourite thing if you count spending money for no real reason at all! probably a touch expensive cause even though its freaken hot, its now 11 years old! but.. the fun part is it still looks virtually identical to the newer 2006-ish models (the only difference is in 2004 the grille was changed)
so why do i want a jag? to be honest, i thought jags were pretty ordinary wanker cars driven by company directors that are in a mid life crisis but still need room to fit their golf clubs in the boot.
then i drove one.
the car i drove belonged to my old boss, it was a burgundy 97 model convertible XK8.. its just so lush, so well built.. its just.. wow! i have to admit though the big round wooden bus steering wheel is a bit off putting, but then all steering wheels are like that after you have been using an aftermarket one. the sheer comfort and build quality, not to mention the smoothness of the 216kw 4 litre v8 engine.. it was just brilliant all round. i was cruising listening to jimi hendrix on the stereo with the roof down.. there isnt much else i can say.
it kind of sums up what i want in a car, comfortable, great music, quick but not too quick.. and the big bonus, it was absolutely silent. yeh so i'm getting old. get bent!
obviously the car in the pics is blue and isnt the one i'm looking at.. they were just nice pics
