180sx + 1UZFE = :D

Hey guys and gals... havnt been on for a while as i have been out of the country and super busy with work...

Im finally trading in the pintara... (after 6 yrs of use and abuse)

Im currently looking for a 180sx, possibly with no motor/gearbox in it as im putting in a quad cam v8 in it :D

thats right.. u read correctly.. 180sx with a v8...

Does anyone know of anyone that has a STRAIGHT 180 for sale... with possibly no motor or greabox in it.. or a cheap 180 (around the 6 - 8K mark??)

ive tried All Jap in brissy, they had nothing... :(

how does the 1u compare to the vh41? because i know the vh41 fits in nicely.. a few people have done it now.

Can i suggest the nissan VH45DE? bout the same price and 0.5L larger in capacity. As strong if not stronger than the 1UZ.

The 1uzfe is the most over engineered motor... the main reason why im putting it in is cause its very easy to do, it has been done b4, and i know how it was done, PLUS im getting the motor, manual gearbox (rx7 series 5,  5 speed) and a motec computer for 3K... unbeatable price really :P + Quad Cam :D

when i upgrade the cams, ill b doing everything else, so ill be pouring alot of money into the engine anyway.. probs go ITB's or twin turbo.. havnt made up my mind yet :P

i think there is only 1 person that has succesfully done a vh45 swap.. its just too big apparently. vh41 however, fits easy apparently.

Im not sure what mean about weight distribution with all accesories.. but the 1uz is only 30-40Kg heavier than an SR, and with the right engine mounts etc it will almost completly retain the 50:50 weight distribution of a regular 180sx

Won't be legal TT'd, if you ever get pulled over you'll be fairly farked.

I reckon ITB's, cams, port work etc would be the best, have you had a sticky around www.v-eight.com? 1UZ in a JZA80 Supra, lots of custom work. need to register on the forums first.

There is a factor you need to multiply the vehicle's kerb weight by to obtain the minimum allowable engine capacity, forced induction or NA. I don't remember what the factors are.

Does this rule apply across all states in aus?? Surely that cant be in NSW.. As my mate has a MX5 with a 2JZ in it, pushing 375Kw at the wheels  ???

IMO i would go for the vh45, its the same size as the 45 and can hold over 600hp reliably in stock form. 3k for all that? I can match that easy...meh nissan ftw.

Yeah i thought that was pretty good considering im getting it installed by a professional mechanic/boilermaker/auto electrcian..hes building me the custom engine mounts, moving brake booster across firewall (so head dosnt hit from engine torque), and customising sump to fit...all for 3K and some beers :)??? ;D


Oh k i didnt know they had done that in all states.. plus ive always prefered that toyota v8

FOUND ONE!!! CA18DET Auto... '89 model... straight body.. paint is almost perfect (gunmetal grey colour) ... very neat lil car, 6 months rego... $6000

it may sound like alot,  but this thing is IMMACULATE... lady owner in japan... then brought to Aussie, 1 owner here, and it was pretty much garaged the whole time, and its def not a drift car...

I should be able to sell the motor, gearbox, and diff rather easily..... should get a thousand or so for that im hoping...

But if its 5k you dont have to spend on panel beating, paint, interior etc...Works out about the same if not a lot cheaper if he found one that needed body work and paint.

Well the build has been delayed for a few months.. till about July... my mate whos helping me do it has severed the tendons on his right hand with a widow maker.. and had to get micro surgery.. so hes out of action for a wee bit...

But as i said b4, ill start a project thread with pics etc this weekend
