translation.

i have money and a Bluebird SSS. Should i pour more money into the SSS, or buy a stock 510 1600.

My opinion - get a 1600, drop an L20B in then bolt on a turbo!
I'm so far behind at work, I'm almost retro!

good luck finding a stock 1600! They are rare as hens teeth. The only ones you will find are rusted out shitboxes that will need LOTS of work.

If you think you will skip doing it up and want to by say an sr20det 1600 be prepared to pay at least 10G as they are in HIGH demand.

Don't mean to rain on your parade but you are better off spending it on your current car or selling and trading up to an ATTESA.

Do you want a weekend cruiser, or a fast daily?
Do you want a dedicated track/strip/etc motorsport car? Or something thats fun on and off the road?
Are you chasing serious performance for pure fun, or are you looking to learn or improve mechanical knowledge and skill?

Then theres other little things like .. Can you afford to run a second car on the road (Rego, insurance, etc) if you intend to take it to the street. Can you afford to have the Bluey SSS off the road for whatever reason should things go wrong or get serious? Yada yada.

Think about the WHY and less about the WHAT, then make a decision.

Way to ruin a good discussion rake :P

Too much thinking and not enough spending... hehe

Best to know your situation before rushing into anything though.

My cousin (its a cliche I know...) owned a 1600 Datto.  Sold it and got an RX-7.  Sold that and new drives a '91 Alfa T-Spark.

I liked the RX-7 the best :)

BZZZZZZT That answer was INCORRECT

The CORRECT answer was:

"I am going to spend all my hard earned money on my car, right down to the loose change my parents use to go and buy the paper in the mornings. This will reduce me to living under cardboard and eating black and gold noodles (worse than maggi 2 minute noodles) and showering every 3rd day. It will be sweet though because my Bluebird will be gun."

if i was in this situation and wanted:

a car that i wouldnt use as a daily and made into a weekend/show car if go the 1600

if it was for a dialy driver i wouldnt take the 1600 because thats the sort of thing i see as a collectable/cruise car

ChadzaTRX: i actually saw a stock 1600 at redcliffe monday, the paint was matt (faded and shit) but it was fairly strait, basically just like any car of its age that has never had any work done on it. wasnt for sale though.
