I'm sort of trying to make a custom one up from a short section of 3" Stainless exhaust tubing. Cap the ends, weld on some bungs for the inlet/outlet lines, add a drain hole and fill with steel scourers. Should only work out to about $50-60.
They are worth it noss, oil in your fuel/air mix drops the octane rating of your fuel. (don't ask me how much, can be as little as a point, could be as much as 5 points.)

yeah, i've read that it can drop your octane level enough to cause detonation. even just oil vapour can cause this.

if you can make one for around the $50 mark. i'm keen. i have found a cheap one for $100 and i was going to buy that.

Premade? Where was it from? If it's decent i'll probably just buy one like that.

Our polished aluminium Oil Air Separator has an internal baffle, universal mounting bracket, filtered vent and ΒΌ BSP sockets for easy fitment of barbed fittings or AN fittings.

Oil Air Separators eliminate hot oil fumes entering the intake system of your engine. Hot oil fumes contribute to detonation and power loss. On turbo charged vehicles oily air entering the intake system coats the inside of your intercooler decreasing its ability to dissipate heat effectively.

oh.. resin... they are fitted to the hose that comes off the valve cover.

they can either be vented to the atmosphere (illegal, but damn cool) or they can be plumbed back into the intake system. this picture may be able to help you out..

that is a hks oil catch can. it is rectangle. the clear/white hose is the piping for it.
