Weird Bluebird on Ebay
« on: Oct 2, 2005, 01:04PM »
Found a strange U13 Bluebird on Ebay...
The seller says its a 92 SSS but it has a 2.0L engine. Doesn't mention anything about a turbo and says it's an economic engine.
The interior is strange too, LX style steering wheel, LX style seats, SSS woodgrain, SSS ABS etc
The Bluebird badges on the rear are Jap style.
SR20DE perhaps?
Imported Jap model?
Very cheap asking price...
Any ideas?
Cheers.

That isn't a SSS. Even though people advertise them as that, half the time people are clueless to what car they are actually driving.

I dunno if its a JAP import it is a SSS....on the side it should say SSS-G. in Japan the ka24de equipted U13's were SSS-Z

SSS: Yeah it's probably not a SSS, sure its got the woodgrain but it doesn't have the SSS seats.
Has the SSS badge on the back and front though...

3391: It would be a Jap import, it ain't Australian. Note the rear bumper design. Are you sure the ka24de was available in a Jap U13?

If it's a SSS, then it could only be a SSS-G which had the 2.0L engine (SR20DE).

Yup that would be a Jap import, most likely imported from NZ.
Heaps of them around there, look just like that, with the SSS badge and all, but are not SSS.

although the KA24DE engine was mostly used in U13 export , it was available in Japan as the SSS-Z .....on the fenders the badge would say "SSS-Z 2.4"

Thanks for the pic :)
Seems like there are a few different Bluebird models around.
Do you have many of those SSS-Z models in the US, 3391?

Got a reply from the seller...

Question for item #4579485619 - Nissan Bluebird SSSEngine is SR20 DE (non turbo).

It is imported and has Aust Compliance Plate fitted.
It came with that steering wheel.

Hmmm Nice rear bumper.  Think it looks better then the Aus Delivered rear.  Wonder how much it'll cost though?
I reject your reality and subsitute it with my own.....

Nice, got pics mate?
How does it go?
Have you done the 1/4 mile in it?
Wonder if the KA24DE would beat it...

the KA24de equipt U13 is  a lot more heavy than the SR20DE U13 so that is something to take into account.

How heavy is it?
The U13 AUS LX manual is 1270kg.

If that's just the block, it shouldn't be a massive difference in weight. Or is the SR20 all alloy?
The SR20DE lacks torque while the KA24DE has a bucketload of torque which compensates for its extra weight.
