air diversion pannels
« on: Mar 10, 2012, 01:33PM »
With as many talented fabricators as there are on antrx, i was wondering if any one has done this yet ? if so what materials have been tried. if your not sure what it does , (as far as i know) it guides the air through the radiator rather than letting it go over-top, also neatens up the bay a bit.

Yes i have in my car but all round my radiator, i used light guage aluminum sheeting that i got from bunnings, i then cut out cardboard templates and made the ally one, keeps the car cooler on track days, which is what the hi-octane one is for

1.2mm / 1.6mm 5000 series aluminium will work perfectly for that if you plan on making one yourself. if you've got an Action Aluminium outlet near you, a 1200 x 1200 sheet will be plenty to allow for stuff ups and shouldn't cost more than $20, i'd avoid bunnings for that kind of stuff unless you are in a dire hurry!

try and use nut / bolts where you can pedro.

no i haven't made one yet, i do plan on doing similar to what lgee has done.

again an easy make, carboard template first mark it out on your metal if your using light aluminum like i did, use the door jam at home as your folder, otherwise mark out your metal, take it to your nearest fab guy and get him to fold the metal drill it and bolt it in.
