« on: Jan 12, 2005, 04:42PM »
now i put fuel in it today and chucked a battery in it 90% sure it would start

i think the problem is the fuel pump because well i dont think its pumping fuel
i am also 90 % sure it has an electrical pump but its either in the fuel tank or above it ..i dont have a car lifter to get a good look under it to check
was wondering if anyone can think of something that i may have missed
the car trys to fire but wont sorta like when u run out fuel...which is y i think its the fuel pump
any help would be greatly appreciated
getting my next door neighbours friend whos a auto electrician to come have a look at it...so if know one knows the problem itll be fixed neways...

When I did the distributor on my corsair (twice ::)) the car would try to start endlessly and that was it.  The fuel pump woudn't come on either (no whining sound like it always made when I switched it to 'ON').  This was on a CA20E however.

Does it almost start at all?  Or is the starter just churning over and over with no result?  Maybe check your distributor champ.  Thats the only help I can offer!

Does it prime when you put it the key to 'on' position?

Beat me to it bungs, thats what I was going to say as well.  It she doesn't prime, then theres an issue with the fuel pumps connection.  Either within the ignition system or on the connections around the pump itself.  Have you only replaced the fuel pump, or is this car had alot more work done to it?  I'm assuming its a TRX by your name? yes?

did you pull the fuse out when you changed it?
did you put it back in?

i'd try (in order)

finding the fuel pump and giving it a tap or two

check your fuses in your engine bay... could be like an ignition fuse or a fuel pump fuse

swapping the ECU and seeing if that works

have you got an alarm that could be faulty? because im pretty sure this can cause it aswell

let us know how it goes
What do ralliart do??? make stickers???

If its an l20b, it probably has a mechanical fuel pump on the drivers side of the motor. What can happen with these, is that the diaphram inside getts tired and stops pumping. They are usually a sealed unit so your best bet will be to grab one from a wrecker.
