Parcel Shelve Carpet?
« on: May 23, 2006, 02:35PM »
Sorry i didnt know where else to post this.
Anyways i have to make a new parcel shelve for some speakers i bought but i dont want it to look like ugly MDF. I was wondering if there was anywhere that you could buy that carpet that comes on the original shelve?.
Any help would be appreciated. ;)

usually auto trimmers or clark rubber can help you out with that

Check out shops like spotlight as well, they've usually got vynil and various types of fabric.

This is using the marine vinyl from spotlight, i chose this as its better for uv protection etc...

This is how mine turned out:

IF your going to use vinyl id recomend putting a thin layer of foam between the mdf and vinyl so it gives that nice soft touch to it.
Any questions on how to do vinyl let me know.

All you need for vyniling is a sharp knife, contact adhesive and a heat gun :)

one thing about the marine grade vinyl is it is a little thicker than normal, so it may be harder to work with
