IPOD --> HU connection query
« on: May 20, 2006, 01:43AM »
hey guys  ;)

now just a little question.

my Head Unit is JVC and doesnt have a aux input in the front.

now i have a output at the back of the HU that has a line out feature, now i was wondering if it is possible to run a sound cable (like for a computer from the aux to the ipod) or something of the liens into my ipod?

just curious to know, if not a new HU will be on the cards, thanks to jay who is being tight and keeping a HU even though he has no car to put it in.

so yeah any help would be appreciated guys.

Do you mean you have an input on the back of your head unit? You said output so you've got me confused.

You can pick up a cable that goes from 3.5mm jack (like on the ipod) to 2x RCA plugs (for the back of the deck) from an electronics shop for nothing more than $10

If it's an output on your deck you can connect up an ipod to it, but it's got a good chance of damaging either your HU or i-prod. You could get one of those cheap FM modulators off ebay ;)

Or if your HU has a CD stacker plug on the back of it, JVC might make an adapter that turns that into an aux input, much like Pioneer and their CD-RB20.

or you could plug it into your amp directly using a line out converter and a set of RCAs chopping the ends of and connecting them to the line out converter, this will change the high / low output differences.

Depending on the quality of the line-out converter you could lose SQ.
