There was an article on him + the car linked somewhere on these forums - I think he lived in a suburb very close to me. The name is also strongly familiar - I never knew anyone with the name, but I heard it often at school, so either he and/or a direct relative attended the same school as I (The latter I think would be most likely, younger relly).

Still the article was from like, a number of years ago and at that time I think it was up for sale, so it mightn't be around here anymore. I havn't seen it.

That's a nice looking bluey, but I don't like the rear bar, too many clashing shapes.

Speaking of autospeed, u fellas seen what they say about the U12 series lol, I'll copy and paste so u dont need to look for it..

Quote
"Back in the late 1980s Nissan Australia was desperately trying to change its image. In addition to popping out the then-sporty Pulsar SSS and Skyline GTS, the company also released a couple of fairly decent U12 Pintara models. Now before you fall about laughing, let's stack the quickest of Pintaras - the 2.4-litre LSD models - against come of the contemporary opposition. In auto form, the 2.4 Nissan convincingly out-guns the atmo Liberty, 626/Telstar, 2.6-litre Magna and even the 2.5-litre, quad-cam, 24-valve 'narrow body' Camry. Oh, and given the same batch of normal unleaded fuel, the upstart Nissan will also snap at the heels of a turbocharged Mazda MX-6 auto!

Not bad for a comfortable everyday car you can now pick up for around $5000."

I'm also not a fan of that rear-wing, but to each-his-own I guess...

I've seen this word "attessa" around so much applying to a few different cars. What does 'attessa' mean???

I'm not specifically 100% sure what it stands for or anything, but basically cars sporting 'Attesa' are Nissan AWD's.

Sure the car might be riced up and all, but hm, it's still an AWD + SR20DET, so it should have a bit of oomph to it.

attessa is the name of the AWD system Nissan uses. Its on GTR's, U12's, U13's and probably some others. The other system that Nissan used in the 90's was HICAS 4 wheel steeing.

You forgot the ever popular Pulsar GTi-R :)

But yeah, Bluebird SSS's / Skyline GT-R's / Pulsar GTi-R's are all I can think of that use the Attesa System.

I've heard something about someones 4-wheel-steering system (I can't remember whos, maybe this HICAS as the car mentioned was a skyline? Shrug) is that, at slow speeds, the rear wheels would turn the oppisite way to the fronts, so the car would have a very small turning circle, for tight spaces :) However above a certain speed, all wheels would steer the one way, for insane "wtf the car is merging sideways" lane changing :P Could be bullshit though, so yeah

I think if you turn the wheel a little bit, the back wheels turn the same way, giving you the "wtf" effect :P, but if you turn it alot, the back wheels turn the opposite way giving you the feeling your back wheels are sliding sideways and reducing the turning circle as you said.

Yeah, It can do it to the nearest degree, pretty impressive..

The GTR's use ATESSA-ETS, i think it's ETS, it means electronic torque splitter or something..It just splits the equal amount of torque to all 4 wheels, if one wheel is slipping the LSD takes over to take care of the power split :P

...yea i saw that car being advertised for 19000 bucks not long ago ......

and yea there were also atessa cefiros aswell weighed another 100 kgs ......

and the hicas is not like hondas delicate (dont hit a kerb while reverse parking crap) 4 wheel steer but rather a toe in / toe out adjustment ......doesnt make any diff at slow speeds only notice it at high speed and cornering etc .....can be quite good helps keep the rears stuck to the road around corners better.....it was abit weird at first but im use to it now
