help please ca20 won't start
« on: Nov 4, 2008, 07:04PM »

hi guys can someone please help me.
today i pulled off my cam cover, exhaust manifold and the top half of my intake manifold off my ca20 to clean them. all was going well until when it was all back together and wouldn't start. when i start it it will kick over and fire but sounds real rough and dies pretty much straight away. i kept it going once by using partial throttle but she sounded real rough. she also seems to shake a lot more than normal while it's starting. i think it could be one of the breather hoses that goes into the intake manifold that is not connected properly as the manifold needs to be real close to for the hose to reach and when it's this close i can't get to the hose because the manifold and fuel rail/lines are in the way.

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Does it kick over slowly or really fast?
Ill fight you. May even throw a bar of soap your way. Maybe a few wax strips and some clip on brembo brake calipers for your fooly sic civic.

check everything related to the distributor. You're possibly only firing on one of the coils.

That's the diagnosis I got when my CA20 was playing up yesterday from the RACV.

That would be the first thing I would check. If you have a vac leak then thats what your issue is right there.

Make sure this is connected properly without leaking, then worry about looking at your dizzy etc...

I agree, it's probably a vacuum leak. Make sure all the hoses are connected to the manifold. Did you use a new manifold gasket?
