« on: Feb 15, 2011, 10:07PM »
A Quick Question.
Im Thinking of changing My Engine for a Stronger KA24E and Just wanna Know once I change it over Do I need a New Complience plate or a Certificate saying its not a stolen Engine?
May sound stupid But This Isnt illegal Or anything? Dont wanna do all the work and have to rip it back out and put the old Engine back in.
Also tried looking for an answer in older threads but couldnt see any :P

If you change engine numbers you must update it with your transport authority.

Your in N.S.W right? Double check with them but you may need also compliance plate to prove engine swapped conforms to engineering requirements (you should be fine on P's as your swapping to same type of engine). I think Qld uses L24 code for this. This is just off the top of my head.

Don't know how N.S.W rolls (other than losing State of Origins consistantly) but at the least updating engine numbers is a must.

For all the work it probably would be easier to rebuild your current one. ;-)
Ill fight you. May even throw a bar of soap your way. Maybe a few wax strips and some clip on brembo brake calipers for your fooly sic civic.

You shouldnt have a problem updating the numbers.  They punch it in their system it tells them exactly what car it came from and (provided it doesnt come up as stolen) they just copy and paste it into your car.  Probably have to show a reciept of purchase too.  If it's the same engine family you will be fine.
I did mine in Vic, changed from E to DE and had no probs at all.

Chris will probably know a fair bit about this topic... he's done enough engine swaps lately.

Just get a receipt with your engine, if you don't have one, make one...

All you need is a blue-slip and you are good to go. In all honesty, you don't even need to do any of that but if you don't want hassles with insurance when you go through a house and your insurance is void because they noticed your engine number doesn't match up, get it done.

No need for engineers, no need for proving its stolen, if it is stolen, the place you bought it from will be asked to prove why. So if you get it from a wreckers, don't stress.
Don't let the opinions of the average man sway you. Dream, and he thinks you're crazy. Succeed, and he thinks you're lucky. Acquire wealth, and he thinks you're greedy. Pay no attention. He simply doesn't understand.

to be fair, it wouldn't be ANTRX if we stayed on topic.

Get receipt for purchase of car.

Swap engines.

Take to RTA to get them to sight the "new" engine number and have them record it on their system against your VIN and rego.

Enjoy.
