1/4 mile times
« on: Feb 1, 2006, 10:31PM »
Sorry if this has been asked before...if it has feel free to delete mods.

I was just wondering what my 1990 Pintara T would be expected to pull down 1/4 mile. No mods, stock as a rock. Just a ball park figure.

Thanx

High 16s i would imagine. Thats just from what i have gathered from this site since ive been here. It will depend alot on conditions and also the driver. A good driver might get mid 16's a bad driver might not be able to get under 17.

Rough figure i spose :P not sure if it helped much.

So I'd be looking at high 20's maybe?  ;D

Nah its good man, i asked for rough figure. Clears some stuff up.

Wow...that is a real low terminal speed! i would have thought a stock U12 could do at least 125km/h in the 1/4.

With a real ass of a launch (read: bogged down badly) i ran a 16.7 at 137km/h the other day as measured with my gtech pro rr. (stock ecu mapping, hydraulic lifters, no SCV's)

Good job mate!

Thanks, but i'm disappointed, as i thought my U12 was good for a high 15, but then reconsidering the level of modifications on the car atm, with a good launch a low 16 would be ok.

That was the only run i have performed thus far, and i have since reconnected my 2 stage rev limiter for more consistent launches, so i should have some new numbers soon.

I think it's time you rebuilt your engine Adam, with that sort of modifications, i would of assumed you would crack a low 16 even with a shit launch, maybe im assuming  bad  :P

the bottom end on my KA has done over 200,000k; i am going to rebuild it soon, most likely end of the year.

I'm hoping it'll cope (with the correct tuning) on 6psi; if i can't do the 1/4 in a high 14 with a 160-170km/h terminal speed i'll be pissed to say the least.

My KA is pretty stock now cos my mate who owned it put noss in the s.o.b!
cooked it hard so he put new g/box,new head-shaved with oversized valves and i put ina heavy duty clutch 4 tha long run..
when he owned it his best time was a 15.2! fukn quik 4 an na ai!
my first two runs were 17.3 but since then i got extractors with sports xhaust, pod filter and a yellow sticker!!!
So keep tuned cos i gota stage 3 chip off noss and cold air intake in the mist 2!

15.2 is still slow for an NA 4 cyl, especially on nitrous, honda guys in the USA are doing 11-12 sec 1/4's with K20 type R heads on K24 blocks, with bolt ons, in civic's/crx's etc.

Haha ..Ever heard of AV GAS numbnuts!!
The car was near new,had lots of compression, lumpy as custard cams and plenty more..
Plus hes a pretty good driver-his reaction time was .03sec in his xr6 TURBO and he done a 13.2 in that thing(Standard az) and most stock xr6Ts do 13.9-14s!!
If you don't believe me I dont really give an airbourne intercourse!!

I let you know how fast his GTiR Pulsar goes down the 1/4 without NOS!!
Then i tell ya how crazy it was on NOS in two months!!

I have seen the 5ltr eatr. It should be at the next UCCC cruise with a new turbo. Will be good to see it out in full form, also keen to see my mates GSR give him a run some time :)  Nice bloke, the owner. For the life of me can't remember his name though (I'm really poor with that).

Absolutely none of which has anything to do with proving your lies as truth :)  You said it - some of us are realists. And realistically, what you're saying sounds like a load of bollox and you've nothing to back it up, apart from 'MY MATES CAR WILL OWN YOU'.

I am keeping a open mind on the 5 litre eater, 5 Litre VP, VR, VS, VT aren't that fast. However a V6 VN is the fastest V6 commodore yet, at 1320kg the power to weight is pretty good, meanwhile a 5 litre VN has power to weight of about 8kg/KW that would be the hardest 5 litre to beat. A VN group A has a better power to weight again at 6.5kg/KW. But hell with the right money anything is possible.

The VN has a very weak chassis the windscreen can crack from jacking them up, the VP was engineered with alot stiffer chassis which makes the heavier, the VR and VS are heavier again then the VP and the slowest would be a series 1 VT 5 litre.
Your car may be able to go faster.
But I can go any where. except into a garage, underground carpark, bridge...

Regardless, the GTiR is real, the owner is a champ and it's QUICK.

His boost controller was a POS and it was overboosting & basically killed his current turbo which is now only running on gate pressure @ 0.4bar. In this configuration, he beat an XR6T with a couple carlengths room. The thing is a weapon and I really can't wait to see it go when the GT35R goes in it...
