Title: u12 pintara trx 1991, HELP wiring! AUDIO
Post by: Sirwadles on Oct 6, 2014, 10:45PM
Hello just have a few questions concerning wiring up my deck/speakers was previously wired very poorly through the amp with electrical tape everywhere, so I decided to tidy things up and redo it all.  They had the battery wired into a Red/Green stripe the earth was into a black cable and acc a blue cable I took note of and marked these 3 cables with scotch tape, however after reqiring everything my deck does not turn on despite having to my knowledge battery and earth wired correctly any idea why this is? Secondly is my front speakers to my knowledge they have Brown/white stripe to left hand and Black/White stripe to right hand speaker and a brown wire to both... is brown positive or negative?

Listening to that it sounds like you need to remove all the old wiring and bin it, then wire it up in a more logical sense using standard color coding.

Yeah ive re wired anything that I could but factory wiring that goes under dash to what I can only suspect goes to the mythical land of narnia I avoided. The red and green striped cable is in fact the power cable but for some reason it is no longer live maybe at the fuse or something but I couldnt fogure it out so ive bridged the piwer cable from my deck to else where for now till I wire it into another constabt active fuse

I don't remember the red and green wire being constant 12V... Could be wrong though, it's been a while..

"Usually" there will be;
Solid yellow/orange which is constant 12V.
Red which is ACC
Black which is earth.

Any purples, greens, greys, brown ect it usually a speaker wire.
You should be able to tell which are speakers because there will be two wires the same colour, one of which will have a black stripe.
The black stripe wires neg to the speaker.

The U12 has plugs half way through the wire as well. At the headunit, there will be (hypothetical colours); 2 purple and 2 brown, but just before they exit the shell of the car and go into the doors will be a plug changing them to black. That's why at both doors there's a black and black and white wire...
Just a bit of FYI.. Like crimps, itl probably lose a bit of current there

If you have a test light, you should b able to figure out whatever you need.
Check the green and red isn't actually just a ACC wire..

Anyhoo, goodluck
