Unless your planning to do HUGE mods to your car, where a heavy duty clucth is needed, I wouldnt bother....just get the standard one.
I had mine replaced about a year ago. My mechanic put some slighty better than stanard one in (only because it was made in Japan) and according to him, was better than the standards one mechanics put into cars. Got it at a standard price too, but it was far from a heavy duty one.
Its been about 10k and Im still pulling seconds :) with a pretty much standard car.
So if you want to go the heavy duty, go for it...but for our car with few mods...I didnt see the point of the extra $$$$
As for brass button....was I wrong in assuming they are only used for HIGHLY modified cars generating 100's of kw? I always thought the only use of a brass button clucth was for like really quick sub 11 second cars?

Get a heavy duty clutch for sure!. I replaced mine with a standard one, then within 6 months it started slipping again (we also went with a 'trusted good brand'. After a year I got sick of it always slipping, so bad off the lights etc that anyone could beat me. So I got a RPM heavy duty clutch put in. Noticably harder until you get used to it, but it takes heaps of abuse with ease. Highly recommended...costs like less than $100 more than a standard clutch i think.

No need for button clutch in our cars.

do not get a brass button clutch, if u slip the clutch u are wearing out out at a fast rate.

u probably wouldnt see it lasting more than a few months if u drove the car like u would if u had a standard clutch.

standard or heavy duty, there both good, much of a muchness really, we dont have a real hi output motor goin on here. but if u got a heavy foot, i guess heavy duty would be an idea.

Note that the clutch slipping is not generally due to a worn clutch plate in our cars, but rather from a decrease in force over time by the pressure plate (springs become weaker with time-crappy Nissan clutches).
Therefore me being a lead foot didn't matter as the clutch plate was fine (I still have it in case I do wear the current one out) and the standard pressure plate should have been ok but it wasn't. Go heavy duty.

Fitted standard was about $550 HD about $600 off hand I think.

I got mine done by my local mechanic (who I and family have been to for a few years) at Hurstbridge motors in Hurstbridge. They are small but they really care for our cars. It cost about $600 to fit a heavy duty clutch to my 2.4T. About $550 for the standard clutch.

When you say `heavy duty` it doesn`t really mean anything as there are SO many options available

When looking for clutch get something that has more clamping pressure than a standard item to help reduce slippage

I`m in negotiations with a VERY well known clutch company in the US at moment about getting some clutches for these cars

If everything goes to plan we will have everything available from a street/strip system right through to the 6 puc racing clutches
These clutches are used in a fair number of the top Honda drag cars over there but are available for a wide range of other applications

You`ve gotta be kidding   :o  lmao
No, these clutches are all custom made by manufacturer and outperform the centreforce clutches hands down

Once i have dealership rights in place then i`ll say more as i don`t want to get everyones hopes up or let the competition get wind of them before everything is in place.  The later of these being the paramount reason

Recieved e-mail from them today and only have to send some documents to them now

Will find some specs on clutches for the KA and post up as i can see it is nearly a certainty now

If they don`t make them, then have no fear as they will custom design one for us

Make:  Nissan   Model:  240SX  Year:  ‘89-90
Applications:   225mm, KA24E
Clutch Kit Number:   NX1-HDR6
Torque Capacity:   342
Pressure Increase:   50 % over Stock
Weight:   15 lbs.
ACT Pressure Plate:   N-012
ACT Disc:   6P224F
Release Bearing:   RB016
Pilot Bearing:   PB1012

This is there 6 PUC Racing clutch, this would be used in extreme conditions where your running some serious horsepower or NOS or something that will test your average item

Make:  Nissan   Model:  240SX  Year:  ‘89-90
Applications:   225mm, KA24E
Clutch Kit Number:   NX1-HDSS
Torque Capacity:   267

ACT Pressure Plate:   N-012
ACT Disc:   NSD035S
Release Bearing:   RB016
Pilot Bearing:   PB1012

This is there street/strp clutch more suited for general use over here.  I would call this our heavy duty street clutch when it is here.  As you can see offers 50% pressure increase over standard item

They also have a 4 PUC Racing clutch which is inbetween these 2 items in specification.  This will be suited to the serious street/strip racer.

If interested in any of these let me know, i`ll have prices for these all worked out in next week or so.
Sooner if your interested though - Just means i have to get my but into gear   lol
