1986 corsair??

there is an advertisement for a 1986 corsair turbo in the Quokka now when i looked at this i thought hang on i didnt think they made them then. correct me if im wrong though. but here is the ad

CORSAIR 1986, manual hatch, new paint, gd tyres, turbo, air cond, p/steer $1800

now its prolly clappped but meh just wondering

I thought they only made corsairs when the pintara came out, as the corsair was a design swap with ford for the U12 pintara? so i don't see how it's possible? maybe a mistake? or maybe i am also wrong

there was a corsair prior to the u12, but i think it was in the 70's

But yeah, Ford didn't sell the U12 (as a UA) until November 1989.

Unless someone's 're-badged' an R31 with UA corsair badges.

Boot Badges
Steering wheel horn pad
remove the Nissan on the grille, and whack a Ford Badge in the middle (XD Falcon style)
Airbox cover from Corsair CA20E
Rocker Cover from a Corsair

And you've got yourself a Ford Corsair R31 until someone looks at the compliance plates  ;D All that needs to be asked is WHY  ???

Here's my guess: the woman who was putting the ad into the paper had fat fingers and accidently hit the 6 key on the number keypad instead of the 9, hence making it read 1986 not 1989. :P

:P... They still go alright in auto form :P  And at around $1000 cost to have the clutch changed in a manual U12/U13 I don't mind!

nah lol gave him a call to check out the details and the guy is a immigrant of some kind and its a bloody toyota corsa lmao! found out when he said its a 1600cc and i was like huh?? what make is it ? it has ford badges right? he is like no toyota and i was like DERR good one dickface lol didnt really but i thought it
