Title: WARNING!
Post by: Vithy on Mar 25, 2008, 04:53PM
Just though i would mention this as i discovered i had this problem.....

When you are installing 6 1/2 in speakers in the front of ur TRX behind ur stocko interior be carefully where u mount it coz if ur not carefully like i wasnt when the woofer moves about it rubs on the door trim flattening ur woofers! make sure urs isnt doing that....

btw this applies if u use 6 1/2 spacers...i didnt have any and couldnt wind the window all the way down....

That is why you cut the door trim into a circle that go's around ur speakers. I thought it would go without saying.

Sorry if i was unable to be understood. The stock speakers in a u12 are 7 by 4s or somthing like that so therefor the door trim allows 7x4's so what you do when u install 6inch speakers is cut out abit of the cardboard on the back of the door into a 6inch circle to allow for a 6inch speaker.

If they're shallow speakers (screwed directly to the door metal) they'll fit without cutting out the back of your door card, but if you need spacers you'll have to cut the card.

um no cutting is needed just move the speaker around till u find a spot that it doesnt touch the door..... im gonna double check mine isnt touch when i get a chance....i was thinking cutting but when i looked i couldnt cut anywhere, that u wouldnt see it on the other side!!! so i was like fuck it! and just moved the speaker around....

ah i see mr. ashman. i thought you meant you were cutting the grille out of the door trim. i've seen that done before actually, pretty nasty. the person's comment was 'but it lets more sound out'  :D

Well he was right in some respects as no restriction = more sound but noticeably more? Im pretty sure i put spacers in when i put my fronts in. It was 2 years ago so i cant remember. Bout time for an upgrade but i dont have the amps.
