Title: hacksaw spec short shifter
Post by: rathies on Aug 13, 2007, 12:28AM
anyone made one?? my trx already had it when i got it, but i felt it needed to be a little bit shorter today so i did it. the stock one is about 6ft high, the modded one feels awesome, strongly recommend it  :D i bought a skinny little autotechnica shift knob today to top it all off.  8)

yeah i hacked about 3-4 cm off my short shifter when i was putting it in. it made it feels so much nicer, rather than using the centre pole out of a tent to change gears. it looks a shit load better too

Yeh guilty...I cut about 4-5cms off my nismo shifter and got a cheap gear knob from Supercheap or something. Looks good but!  :D

You guys know that cutting this stick from the top end is either going to not change the throw, or possibly make it longer?

yep. thats why i only took a little bit off, it still made a huge difference.

nah, the shifter knob that i use has three grub screws that just screw into the shifter itself. i didnt need to worry about welding anything.

yeh even if it increases the throw it feels better. The shift knob i've got know is quite long and skinny so it needed a chop. you dont even have to struggle with those crappy plastic sleeves that come with the shift knob.

they both just sat up so high! so the trusty hacky came out and a-hackin we went
