on the left of your boot should be a thin piece hardboard, you could strenthen that or remove it and build a stronger piece of wood? there are mounting holes to secure the piece of wood if u choose to do that.. but thats prolly on of the easiest....

mine is bolted onto the back of my sub box... good idea, saves heaps of room, and also helps keep sub and amp from moving aroudn due to extra wieght

Under your passenger seat, bolt it straight to the floor, too easy

Homer!  What have you done to the car?  I don't think it had broken axles before.

What, I never said I didn't like it asshat! :P

At least I don't think I did... but if I did, then I'm the asshat.

although if it gets run a lot and fairly hard it generates a reasonable amount of heat and under the seat doesnt provide much air flow

it won't run hot enough to end up burning into the carpet and if it is contact with metal well that wil help the heatsink or the metal on the amp to dissipate the heat away from the amp.

electricly wise i think it would be better to mount to MDF then to the metal... the car chassis is charged as its connected to the (-) on the battery.

i dont think anything is gonna short. unless u do a real sh*t job of wiring the wires into the + - terminals.

also i think anything with a metallic case is grounded.. which means no short.

yeh its on the mdf cos my amp has little b*tch ass screws to secure it. that and the fact that its easier to drill holes in the mdf and line them up with existing screw holes, than trying to find something to match up with the pre - drilled holes on my amp

i wanted to bolt it down for security reasons, that sorta defeats the purpose of bolting it anywhere. not only do theives not have to unbolt it, but they get the amp and the sub in an easy to carry package  :P

provides more airflow than in your boot

Drive around with your boot open often?

Wonder why water doesn't get in your boot when it rains?

A car boot is not exactly a space that is conducive to great airflow, large space, but not the best.  Have a look under your seats and you'll notice there is heaps of room for an amp, it's hidden away so no one will know it's there, and it gets plenty of air.

BUT

If you manage to cook an amp with it in your boot, I'll personally come and buy you another amp.

The boot has airflow, -underneath the bumper skin on the sides of the car are air flow holes which have flaps. The reason they are positioned here is to keep out rain but allow fresh air to enter the boot space.

those vents are actually there to prevent the 'chopper' effect when you have your rear windows down and not the front ones, they equalise the pressure through the car so it's easier to shut your doors with all windows up and stuff like that

Those little openings are also fantastic on dirt roads, all the dust enters through them and covers your boot with a fine layer of grime.

I had my amp mounted on the left onto some MDF behind the carpet.  Was very solid until someone broke into my car and stole the amp.  bah...

The best place to secure the amp in the boot of the pinny is on the leftside where the little air vents are. (just below them)
its a good place because under the plastic bumper there is a little air duct and the flows through there and into the boot therefore keeping your amp kook  ;)

1) Remove the left carpeted panel by removing plastic support screw, i found it easier to remove the ones towards the rear seats first, then the other three on the side should just pop off, don't be afraid to give them a bit off a pull they don't break that easily.

2) Once the carpeted panel is off obtain a piece of MDF bout 12mm thick will do and secure in to the pack of the panel with screws  (no glue required) to help support the amp because if you just screw the amp on the panel will lean in and the amp will vibrate.

Don't place an amp on the back of a sub box because when the sub puts out mega bass the electrical internals in the amp may vibrate loose and parts could become weak inside the amp therefore the amp could screw up.  ;)
