Id put around 40 pound in them, there should be a recomended tyre pressure on the tyre wall.

Nice choices in both cases. Very sexy.

Now, i have no idea about anything, and i dont want to get flamed for this, im looking for honest information...

My old man was a mechanic for his whole life, its what he did until he injured his back and needed urgent surgery, and continuing his work was too painful. He tells me to run about 33PSI or something like that.. I will double check with him soon and go pump them up tonight. Is there anything wrong with this pressure?? Pros (if any) and cons would be nice.. As i said, i have no idea, just keeping gramps happy, so any informative replies are appreciated.. Thanks guys.

Far to low for low profile tyres. You'll find with low pressure there is more stress on the sidewall as they need to be pumped up to support the weight better.

I really didnt explain that very well but you will find poor economy, increased wear, and overall bad handling. 40-44psi is what you want for 215/40r17 or even 45 profile tyres.

Thanks Kranz. Had a chat to the old fart today, he said 30 again. Then i said what about higher pressures eg 40, and he said theres nothing wrong with it, and went on explaining his side of the argument. ALl in all, the result being he said 'Try different pressures and see what you personally like'.. So i will be hikin them pressures up very soon to have a feel!!

Once again, cheers.

ah good timing for this thread. Was wondering what psi my new tyres (i think they are 17s) would need, i was assuming the old 32 psi like the r31 needed

50 psi is a bit extreme..my mates a tyre fitter n had a low profile tyre blow up nxt to his head..apparently ur ears natural defense to that is massive wax build up or "EAR BooGERS"..thats shits nasty but even just goin out ravin gives em to ya....mite go get my ears cleaned out...
Sick and tired of sayin "WOT?" and tryin to lip read at work..

Yeah when my tyres were new I gave my mates bike a tow on a trailer from motorvation...and i had way too low psi-like 32.. anyway just changing lanes and hittin a cats eye made the hugest slam and I had pinched the inner wall leavin a nice lil egg on $300 rubber... >:(
I thought i get warranty for this shit but nope...VOID cos U RAN IT FLAT!!

Indeed, I run 40psi in my bluebirds tyres (215/40/17).

Jeez that must give a hard ride. I run 36psi in the Navara 265/75/16 and that harsh enough of a ride. Plus your car being lowered.
Your car may be able to go faster.
But I can go any where. except into a garage, underground carpark, bridge...

I consider it to be a 'strong' ride dave :)  Plus the tyres seem to have worn well considering the angry camber on the front end of the car.

it seems like this question has been answered...however, i have a slight dilemma...they tyre blokes (who fitted my new 17" chromies yesterday has labeled them to be inflated to 36psi...)

i have a 7.5inch rims therefore runnin 215/40r17's...
what u reckon?

Everyone here is aware that your tyres pressure's increase depending on the tyres temperature and alter the pressures.
Nitrogen is used as to prevent changing tyre pressures.
I have nitrogen and the pressures at 35psi fronts and its a sensitive ride picking up the majority of bumps on my travels.
There is no noticeable difference from winter to summer, and short to long drives, in the hardeness of the tyres.

Just my 2 cents
