high police numbers on the roads
« on: Jan 15, 2003, 07:32AM »
has anyone in melbourne noticed the high numbers of police on the roads lately?

i live out near ringwood and i was driving to my girlfriends house near essendon, and i counted at least 16 police cars.

a paddy wagon followed me today from near daisies (croydon end of ringwood) and tail gated me all the way thru the main road of ringwood.

every time i've driven thru ringwood in the last fortnight there has been either an undercover silver ss, red ss, or black manaro...

not to mention the highway patrol cars in the city from my other post..

is it just me being very concious of police lately or is everyone noticing this?

I got followed around half of the Perth CBD the other night by a Divvy van...made sure I didn't go up any one way streets.
There are lots of cops on motorbikes with radars over here, I thought I was done for sure just before, I was about 10 over, one came up quick behind me in my lane (3 lanes wide) with lights going...but passed me and pulled over a bike rider further up. Lucky me.

Not that this adds much to your melbourne comments...

Yeah its the same here in SA - I counted 6 separate cop cars in one night just around Noarlunga and a couple nights ago there were like 6 within a 200m radius (drug bust or something).

Well, I drove past about 8 cop cars the other day here in Sydney.
Admitedly, they were all parked outside of Parramatta Police Department.
Maybe it was just a coincidence, or maybe they are out in force?

hehehe

On a serious note, I never have heard of (until now) or seen an under cover cop in a manaro! How cool is that??

yeah i was in the car with my girlfriend when we saw the undercover monaro. this dick in a bmw 4wd was really shitting me, he had another lane to get around me, but he insisted on tail gaiting me and just being a down right wank, and i said to my gf "i hope that dick gets done by the cops"

he decided he'd go in the straight ahead lanes and go around the traffic island to turn left, rather than go around the 2 "turn left anytime with care" lanes.. and then sped of down the main strip of ringwood, he got up his speed pretty quick & then the monaro busted him, he would of been going at least 120km/hr in the 60km/hr zone.. and by going around the island like he did, he effectively ran a red light too  ;D

Couldve been just someone with strobe lights... although the fine for "Immitating a cop car" is pretty huge. Not to mention the extensive loss of licence.

you can get red and blue strobe light kits from JB - me and the old man were verrry tempted to try it when we got our new falcon!!

i agree with these numbers of cops lately. it's a good thing in some ways, you gotta admit.

when i picked up my car from the premier in dandy today, i was waiting to do a u-turn to go back down lower dandy road. there was a marked SS and one of the silver highway patrol cars. both pulled people over as they left the lights... glad they did, otherwise they might've dicked me for a loud exhaust!  :P

A few months ago now I was driving through Hahndorf with my mates when we came up behind a *Lamborghini Diablo SV* in the main street. Believe it or not it was fully decked out in SA Police livery with full roof lights and sirens!!!! I'm not kidding! I don't know whether it was a real cop car or not but I tell you it looked real right down to the police car serial number on the side. I didn't believe it could be real but why would someone do that to a diablo just for fun???
