The VB Series
« on: Jan 29, 2006, 04:14PM »
just thought i'd see who you guys think will win the final

from the looks of it, if the Aussies beat Sri Lanka today (Perth) Aus will definately have a spot in the final.

it's getting pretty close to the finals now, they start on feb 10th.

gillie is a dead set legend.. captains the team to an awesome win, and gets himself a century.. champion.

and australia should win. if they dont, who really cares? they have won enough lately. i watched them play at the telsta dome in melbourne the other week, and it was one of the worst games ever.. south africa didnt score over 4 runs an over basically.. plus it was like 58% humidity.. so it was real fun.

anyways.. australia should win.. but if they dont, i hope sri lanka win.. cos the south african captain.... arrr.. graeme smith.. is a wanker.. lol..

peace

from the looks of it, if the Aussies beat Sri Lanka today (Perth) Aus will definately have a spot in the final.

Yep, they'd have to lose both of their games against south africa, and give away two bonus points, and then sri lanka would have to beat South africa twice and get two bonus points to be equal with australia on the points table... and then

Quote
# In the event of teams finishing on equal points, the right to play in the final will be determined as follows:

# The team with the most number of wins
# If still equal, the team with the most number of wins over the other team(s) who are equal on points and have the same number of wins

so because australia has beaten sri lanka in 3 out of 4 games, they are guaranteed a position in the finals even if they end up being equal on points.

bah... :P

i'm also hoping for an aus v sri lanka final.. not all that keen on the south africans, i mean, i'm surprised they haven't had a whinge that they don't have enough fans  ::).. god, they've complained about just about everything else.

roy is magic in the field and on the pitch. gilly was on F I R E. awesome cricketers. made for great tv, but didnt stop me checking tennis scores at the end of each over lol.

i'm hoping jacques gets another shot at one dayers soon, but yeah, not at the expense of katich, he hasn't done enough wrong to be shafted.

All this carry on with the racial slurs at the WACA is absolute tripe.

The slurs were against Ntini (The black fast bowler) and said in AFRICAANS (Dutch-Boer South African Language)

They are being slug by all the racist, rednecks, yarpies, boers that fled South Africa as apartheid ended fearing reprisals...

Not australians saying it at all.

damien martyn was pissing me off the other nite. hes a way too cautious player. its because of him i reckon that the run rate went to shit. they need to either put him back further in the order or just skip him completely in this sort of match.

Look i (recently) played cricket at the highest junior level in South Australia. However, due to injuries i have had to put a hold to it and concentrateon fetting this injuries fixed! BUT yeah i have always idiolised ROY due to the magic / presence he has in the field. It used to be Punta when i was younger but ROY is my idol!!!

UNTILLL a little incident that occured at the torrens arms hotel in Adelaide when he was hear for the test match. All i will say is him and hussey now have a different outlook from myself  :-\

But when it comes to ROY i jsut hope his form is goign to stay with him for a while, as he is by far a confidence player.

oh and sorry guys, ADELAIDE oval owns any stadium in Australia for atmosphere ;) ehhhee

Lies...All Lies.

Basically it boils down to the fact that tha Adelaide Cricket Ground is the last GROUND in Australia. Sure...the MCG is a great Stadium for packing in heaps of people and more bums on seats for extra dollars but as a cricket ground the Adelaide one still has it.

The 'Gabba was best just after they removed the dog track, but still had the fig trees, wooden benches, the infamous gabba hill, and the old scoreboard. As soon as that stupid aerial ping-pong took over the place they fucked it... >:(

Errr, the adelaide cricket ground isnt the last "GROUND" in australia, there's heaps of others.

Bellerive Oval in Hobart for example...

as far as grounds that international cricket games are played at then yeah, as far as I know there are only two real 'grounds'- adelaide and Bellerive

Don't get me wrong, I would love to get to a match at the adelaide oval one day in the future (hopefully when the MCC has another memeber transaction thingo between the grounds).

The MCG is a stadium, obviously... its also one of the most awesome places on earth with 100,000+ people all screaming at once for their country, or their team.

The best cricket match I have ever been to was the Tsunami Appeal match at the 'G... when it was still a bit of a mess, with the members stand only just completed and the new olympic stand just a pile of concrete.  70,101 people were there, everyone cheers everyone else.  Murali bowled without the resounding calls of 'NAAAAOOOWWWWW BAAALLLLLL!!!' for once ;)  Gilchrist batted with Brian Lara... awesome stuff.

The absolute best.

i think its definitely hard for a ground to beat the prescence of being in the mcg, or telstra dome. nothing can beat a melbourneese crowd. ive been to the gabba, both melbourne grounds and adelaide, and nothing is like the atmosphere of the melbourne grounds..

lol just my opinion though

fuckin awesome pics Resin!! well done!

Love the first pic, Gilly has been my favourite player for a long long time, and its bloody great to see him getting some runs! I bet you would of enjoyed his quickfire 88 on Sunday, I couldnt move on Sunday i was so hungover but at least I watched every ball of his innings  ;D

About 15 years ago when i was a little fella i was at the MCG with 90 000 fans on the hottest day in a long time (41 or so) to watch Australia win by 2 runs against NZ, was awesome  ;)

I've also been at a packed house at the gabba before and the view from the grandstands is awesome, BUT, the Gabba Hill was better. I had awesome times as a kid playing cricket out the back of the gabba hill amongst all the drunks!

Actually now i think of it I have been to the Gabba a bloody lot. Highlights being in 1992 i think when i had just moved from Geelong, sitting right behind the goals watching Gary Ablett kick lots of goals and remember thinking how friggen massive he was (Bears vs Geelong game, cats won), and maybe seeing Adam Dale for the Bulls (vs NSW, blues won) take a catch in the outfield that i dont think can ever be beaten!!
Watching South Africa beat Brazil in the soccer at a packed Gabba for the 2000 Olympics was good too, very good atmosphere, can't describe it, was just AUSTRALIAN   :)
Yes you could say im a bit of a sport nut hehe
2.0L 4 -------> 3.0L 6. Does this mean a 4.0L 8 next?? or back to a 2.0L......turbo!

one little question --> i thought the DSLR you would be able to get better depth of field in relation to the focus upon the player and lack of focus on the crowd in the background.

mmm, i think i photo had a hell blury bg --> jus tlove those photos ;)

nice work.

one little question --> i thought the DSLR you would be able to get better depth of field in relation to the focus upon the player and lack of focus on the crowd in the background.

nice work.

U can .....and in the first pic of gilly .....the crowd is less blurry .....Because i had a larger aperture number which increase depth of field .....but whn this is done u need to decrease shutter speed to allow for extra light. I also played around witht he iso rating aswell ...most of thouse i think were taken on either 400 or 800 iso. But remember the camera is fully zoomed on the 75 to 300 lens and i was trying to take picture of fast moving objects so u need a reasonbly fast shutter to catch things like balls and bats etc. Plus when u have the crown jumping around all the time it gets annoying ..........some came out blurry because either i hadnt focussed properly on the player or they were just too far away or it stated to get dark.

With the aperture u need a huge number like 22 and above to get the crowd starting to look like theyare in focus but they are a long way back from the players e.g the radius of a cricket field plus more cause we were on the closer side hehe

there were 4 too many run outs in the Aus innings, ok so martyn was run out through his own bad call, but the others were just stupid stuff ups.. very un-characteristic of the top order boys.

I also went, got a little burnt on the face because I didn't reapply sunscreen  ::)

I took a bit over 300 photos, didn't upload the proper cricket ones (a few shots of bowler running up, bowling and then the batsmen hitting the ball - usually a sequence of 7 or so pictures).

http://photobucket.com/albums/v628/bungs/cricket/

Hrm looks like photobucket didn't screw up the quality too much, good :)

symonds and ponting recovered it for the aussies, after 3/10 which is a lil more disgraceful than murali's 0/99... IMO

only the score after 50 overs matters.  personally,i quite enjoyed the hammering mulari took, definetly not as good a bowler against top teams.

i think it was 358  :P, its always good to see murali getting flogged about the park, i can see how he would ever compare to warnie, and i bet he can't text message either

haha yea. when i first saw it i was like shit he could miss out on the alan border medal again! but it wasnt so bad. But just imagine what Hayden wouldve been like after making 350 odd runs and a spectator coming up to him, he wouldve knocked the guy clean out.

i'll second that. To be in the Australian team you not only need to make runs, you need to make them fast, or you can fuck off as far as im concerned!

Too lazy to make quick runs, too lazy to have a shave, fuck off Katich!! Bring on Jaques!

apparently his fielding isnt upto scratch  ??? mmm, now how many other players can i apply that princile to...

did anyone hear murali's rant in the papers today?? saying that he was heckled no stop for his action and shit. i also saw what i thought was an absolute corker of a chant, written by some pommy bugger:

Throw throw throw the ball,
gently down the seam,
Murali murali murali murali
he chucks it like a dream

 ;D :P
