1995 U13 ka24e Inner tyre wear - bushes question
« on: Oct 11, 2010, 12:12AM »

Hi Guys,

New guy here, got a question for the antrx brains trust. I've got inner tyre wear on the drivers side of my 95 model U13 SSS, I'm 99 percent sure it's due to a warn control arm bush that was caused by a previous oil leak dripping onto the bush.

My question is, can the front control arm bushes be replaced, or do you generally replace the whole control arm?

I would have thought just bushes, but some threads in google were stating otherwise, just want some clarification.

Thanks for the help

have you had a wheel alignment check?

sometimes it is more cost effective to do an arm as it is a quick swap.
all so depends on whats available.
do you plan on doing the job yourself?

Thanks for the reply, I had a wheel alignment done about a year ago when I got 4 new tyres for rego.

But several mechanics had advised there is movement in those bushes, and I've double checked it myself, they are definitely screwed.

I probably won't do the job myself due to lack of time, so if a replacement arm is available I'll just go that route, as it looks like there aren't to many things need to change a whole arm (bolts to crossmember and ball joint).

I'm assuming the bushes have to be pressed out or something?

Yeah way to much work for me to bother with since this is my daily shitter. I guess I'll talk to a mechanic, replacement control arm sounds much better if they aren't to expensive.

Thanks again
