U12 coilovers ...again
« on: Jun 8, 2010, 11:41AM »
i've been digging around for any new info on u12 coilovers for front and rear. i have been reading a few threads recently for the u13 ,so I thought i start a new thread with all info for the u12. I found an ancient thread suggestion s13's for the front, and another from noss when he was digging around for some for the mini, with the possibility of bc or pedders due to the camber/caster plate being included fitting( is this both front and back?). what are thought on these neotech..

Those rear's won't work as a bolt in coilover, wrong mounting type.

The fronts might work, but would probably need new camber plates with the right bolt pattern.

S13 front's won't work as the clevis bracket is too far up the tube, the bottom of the tube would hit the driveshaft.

Anything for the U13 will fit the U12. Jason put the coilovers straight out of our U13 wreck into his U12 attesa.
Jason reffering to the OzVR4 Forum... "Even their forum is slow" "FJ20.com on the other hand, yep that S12 does Mono's"

what where they. did he do front and back or just the front? i noticed on the track attack site that they can do custom coilovers from your existing struts..

They were D2 coilovers, but what (I'm saying is that it doesnt matter what brand they are, any suspension designed for the U13 will fit the U12, front and back.

U13 coilovers do fit! But as the distance between the 3 bolts on the top of the upright are not all equal length ( 2 are 10cm, 1 is 11cm or something like that) the camber tops cant be installed in the correct way with out the tower tops being redrilled. Which is not really an issue the coilover still functions and mounts in 100%. And as there are camber bolts in the bottom from factory anyways u can still achieve useable amounts of camber anyways. You just need to make sure the blokes that do ur wheel alignment have an idea of what they are actually doing otherwise if they try and adjust the camber using the camber tops u end up wid a shit load of castor and lots of setting changes u were properly not after.

i dunno is there any reason it wouldnt work if u had a u13 rear hub aswell to bolt on since the rear struts on u12 have the hub attached while the u13 doesnt?

and is it a mutual thing between bluebird and pintara/corsairs? or bluebird only?

mmm, still thinking heavily about this as i have had to replace the front strut bearing plate yet again!! 3rd set in about 5 3-4 years. and the car was stationary while conversion took place for a year. so the last set lasted 8 months..might defendantly do it when shocks are cactus and these plates screw up in a year... ::)

so U13 100% front, rear 75% and doable with u13. anyone tried the N14 ones with adjustable camber plates? what are thoughts on those reverse coilovers?

you might also have a look at the sleeve kits from ground control suspension. they have sleeve kits for the u13 and s13 that might work on u12's.
