ka24DE gearbox differences,
« on: Sep 4, 2007, 10:09PM »
Hi guys,

Does anyone know the differences between the ka24e and Ka24 DE gearboxes?

Ratios, Gearset strength, Single/Dual Synchros? any one?

i want to do a DE conversion  and want to know if the box will hold up better with boosttt.

Thankss,

All U13 KA24DE manual gearboxes had the viscous LSD.
I was under the impresion that the U13 manual box was identical to the U12 TRX box (also with viscous LSD of course...). The only difference being that the speed sensors are different, but physically interchangable (electrical connections differ....).
I will stand corrected if i am wrong!

I was under the same impression, but then with the latest clutch group buys, they said the U13 KA clutch was different to the U12... so that makes me think there is something different there.

Not sure about driveshafts...  are you asking if they are different between the U13/U12? ie lengths etc?  or just different spline for box match up?

The clutch may well be different, but perhaps only due to a different flywheel setup?
I can give pics of a U13 clutch and thrust bearing if someone has pics of a U12 clutch to compare it to....
I think i remember someone on this site once saying that the splines are different (different number of splines???) on the U12 driveshafts, depending on whether they are for a LSD or a non-LSD gearbox....

I thought you could use a U13 gearset into our boxes, clutch won't matter and U13 and U12 clutches SHOULD be the same.

I'm running a DE flywheel......

i'm more interested in gearset differences, eg ratios, strength.. etc.

anm i right in thinking that a DE flywheel can be redrilled for E clutch?

Dont go modifying flywheel's. Its just asking for trouble.

yeah they looked exactly the same to me too.  I'm running an E flywheel on a DE... clearly they are interchangable.

I've been led to believe they've got different ratios.

I'm sure someone posted up a little while back which driveshaft is interchangeable between U12 and U13 models (one of them is) and what the ratios are for the boxes.

I think Budgie is using a U13 driveshaft in his TRX.
