Title: Problem with fitting JDM Bluebird tailights to Aus U12...
Post by: bones on Dec 4, 2007, 05:36PM
bought a pair of import spec lights
and when i threw em in i found the JDM light panel doesnt fit(wrong plug)
but the biggest problem is they dont line up....
ive got a gap along the side of the no plate garnish/light
and a huge 10-15mm gap all the way across the bottom!
so whats the deal anyone know?
i assumed they were a straight swap?
can i fix this with JDM/NZDM/corsair parts or do i have to modify??

any info on this would be great....
cheers, bones...

I thought what others had done was to remove the clear section and mount it onto the pintara set  ???

the complete J-spec light itself is smaller than the aussie light. Usually you put the clear lense from the jap light onto the aussie light, which should mean no gaps. Maybe you could use your aussie tail lights and put those clear lenses onto them, then you wont have any gaps.

Because the jap lenses are smaller than the aussie ones I had to bead the edges with black silicone.

I have the Jap lights in my Ti and yes i have that horrible gap too, and one plug is hard wired into the wiring loom.

I do believe that corsair rear end would have no gaps as their tail lights are slightly smaller i think.

On my corsair there is only a 5-10mm gap on the number plate side of the light, no gap on bottom. With the wrong plug, I just used the plate the has the sockets for the globes and the plug from the stock lights and put it on the jdm lights, it is a perfect fit.

ok sick...so its lookin a bit better to fix but as in regards to changin the lenses i have a ti and the tails are ugly dull red color...so iwanted to spruce it up i might look at gettin JDM stuff for it failing that ill just mod the corsair parts....
are they metal or pelaztik??
