Crunch...
« on: Nov 9, 2011, 09:50AM »
Hey Guys,

Got rear ended on the rear right side yesterday morning in the rain.
Photo from the rear didn't work on the phone so I only have the side.

Basically rear damage has pushed the bumber in a good 4-5cm, smashed the rear light and touched up the boot a bit.

All covered under insurance, just the hassle of getting it fixed or whether they may write it off - given what these cars are worth.

Anyways more pictures to come....

hmmm it might be writeoff... if so I'd keep it, fix yourself and get it back on the road.

Good luck, hope it goes the right way for you.

Okay assessment completed and it's not written off, but the assessor basically said you can get it fixed or take a cheque for the repairs and keep the car.  Unfortunately the second option is too much to ignore, so just waiting on him to process the paperwork.

Kind of a sad end really, as after 10 years of ownership the plan was, next year to transition it to being more of a track car.  We had just re-done the steering rack, gearbox, clutch and put in the Koni adjustable shocks in preparation.

So the plan is to drive it for a bit longer and then work out whether we sell it as is or for parts.

You should be able to get to most of that damage easily through the boot to at least pop it back out so its not as obvious.
Whats a track car without a few minor dents in it anyway?

True, just wish it happened about a year or so from now, when finances will be a bit better.  I'll advertise it in the usual places and if it sells it sells, if not then we'll see what happens.
