Mode Switch (2.4 Litre Engine)
A three position switch, located behind the gearshift lever, sllows the driver to select two shift patterns.
The switch positions are:
- Hold
- Power
- Auto
Lights are provided within the mode switch for the power and hold positions
Hold Position (comfort pattern)
When the mode switch is set to the hold position, the hold light will illuminate.
In this mode, the transmission shifts occur at lower vehicle speeds and smaller throttle openings. This mode is typically effective for highway cruising, etc.
Power Position (power pattern)
When the mode switch is set to the power position, the power light will illuminate.
In this mode, the transmission shifts occur at higher vehicle speeds and wider throttle openings. This mode is typically effective for:
- Quick acceleration (i.e) overtaking
- Uphill driving (i.e.) engine control
- Towing - where load requires
The ammount of difference between the two modes varies according to throttle opening.
Auto position (automatic selection of comfort or power pattern)
When the mode switch is set to the auto position, pattern selection will occur automatically and light operation will occur as follows.
Then the system automatically selects the power pattern, the power light will illuminate.
When the system selects the comfort pattern both the power and hold lights will go out.
As a system check, the power light will flash for several seconds after the ignition is turned "on" irrespective of the mode switch position if a problem exists. In this event consult your Nissan Dealer
