Transmission Jerk 1~2- CA20
« on: Apr 10, 2006, 12:59PM »
The auto transmission in my ford corsair 1990  auto 2 lt gives a big jerk while moving from 1~2. Got my transmission serviced with no apparent success with the Jerk. Transimission never slips and works fine other than the jerk.

Is it an expensive repair to fix the jerk? Any idea how much it may cost? thnx

I have no idea about auto transmition.

Who did the service?  If it was K mart again I'd strongly suggest you take it elsewhere.  I know they are prob the cheapest, but you get what you pay for.

at 1/2 throttle what speed dose it change from 1st to 2nd at?  I've got no idea why that is important (if anyone can educate me it would be most appreciated) but flicking through the workshop manual (the pintara one, not the corsair) that was the only reference to 1 - 2nd gear changes I could find.  perhaps it would be worth downloading the corsair manual from this site.

... You can download the full U12 Factory service manual in this thread... http://www.antrx.com/smf/index.php?topic=7177.0

other than that - good luck!
I spent my money on sothern comfort and speeding fines, the rest I wasted.

If it only jerks when it's cold that's fairly normal. Cold fluid = higher pressure = quicker gear changes.

Could be a buggered clutch.

I have a corsiar 2.4 auto.  Never ever in the last 11 years had the jerky problem in the morning until recently when the cluthc got burn't out.  Doesn't happen all the time but eventually will fail completely.

Check ur gb fluid.  If blackish and with the aroma of burn't peanuts/etc it could be the problem...hopefully not though.  I was quoted 2,000 to fix mine.  Not sure what i'll do yet.
