Hi Guys. I went looking for Engine Gunk Remover today to try and stop my noisy lifters for a few more kms.
I found that there are two types:

Nulon Lifter Free Tune Up: Which you leave in the oil after an oil change $11.50

and

Nulon Engine Oil Flush: Which you put in the old oil before changing and let the engine idle for about 10min then change to new oil. $10.10

Has anyone had success or otherwise using either of these products, or is there a better product still.

Thank you for you comments.

Have you heard of Environtec Engine Oil Cleaner?
My mechanic used it in my car when it was serviced last, he reckons its pretty good.
Worth a shot if Nulon doesn't work for you  Huh

I used the Nulon lifter free tune up and my lifters quietened down for a while but whenever I did a long distance trip (and when I took my car to the track) the lifters started tapping again.

Give something else a go and report back here to let us know!

The Nulon oil flush is alright, apparently it makes your oil more fluid when hot so it drains out easier.

use the STP brand oil additive, comes in a blue bottle. really works well, had the same problem with the lifters on startup when cold, put some of that stuff in it and never heard it again.my brother used the same stuff in his R31, and same deal never heard the lifters again. I think it costs about $18 but its well worth it. if you try it let me know how it goes.

I would like to add specifically that if you are having any form of lifter "issues", the nulon lifter free additive actually works.

I had one lifter the other day that refused to pump up and consequently the engine ran like it was on 3 cylinders. A bottle of lifter free, and 15mins engine running time later, quiet lifters and car was running fine again.

(btw, i had put my hydraulic lifters back in til i could sort out some things with my solid lifters.)

diesel flush always works pretty
in the case of additives there never going to fix mechanical problems mabey bandaid it for a short while
(tho redline oils have spanners in them)
Best advice is use good oil and change it regularly

That is correct, it fixed temporarily the noisey lifter/s i had for approx 2 weeks, i knew they were gone but i needed a temp fix while i was waiting on my lash caps to be machined so i could re-install my solid lifters.

could also be the oil pump.
with my car doing an engine flush helped the idle oil pressure
however the 3 grand rpm test point is still running 20 psi lower then recommended
so pump ware or the relief valve is opening early. could be the problem.
