old man left a r31 on garage for few months, i'm thinking make a heart transplant. current one is dead for the second time and i'm sick and tired of endless repair on the head.

i 'm looking for a swap, may be a SR20DE and turbo charge it with stock turbo (id work out cheaper, and i'm only runnig 5psi) or the RB20DET.

if i got for the sr can i get the r32 engine mount and direct boly in? with all the original ecu and afm?

or may be the ser I RB20DET, but may cost the same as ser II.

any one doen it before?

thanlks

I'd go with the RB because R31 Skyline engine mounts would bolt up to the engine. You'd have to change over the loom and computer to whatever comes with the new engine.

I'm not sure what you're on about with the R32 mounts suiting an SR, as far as I know there weren't any SR engined R32 Skylines.

Zoom magazine did a project car in the early days where they put a RB25DET into an R31 Skyline wagon. Have a look in your library or order some back issues.

And try searching for info too.

id go the rb20. ive done a ca18det conversion and theres alot more to it than what some imgonna's on this forum rekon they know.
the sr has been done, but new engine mounts was just the start. aiccon, alternator, power steering etc etc also need to be modified...oh and lets not forget the gearbox wont line up...and once youve sorted all that out you have to customize your tailshaft too... so yes the rb20det seems to be a MUCH BETTER engine to suite a conversion.
just remember. unless your prepared to spend a minimum of 5g on it, dont bother
i thought id just be realistic for you

thanks guys.

in regard with the SR is that when transfer RB20DET into S13, the R32 engine mount will make the job direct bolt on.

so has anyone done the RB20 before?
