I have a orange mark on my pulley is that where i am meant to line up the timing on? its on that at the moment..i just want to make sure...the diagram under the bonnet is a little confusing, it says the timing should be set at 4 degrees BTDC, so is that on the orange mark or the next white mark ?

Just finished fitting a new head gasket and it all still goes   ;-)   it was my first time !

The orange mark is TDC, and the next white mark clockwise of the orange one would be 5°BTDC
