5.7L LS1 oooh yeah baby!

« on: Mar 31, 2005, 12:44AM »

Gday,
I'm looking for anywhere in Australia where I can buy aftermarket tailights for my 94 Bluebird. I've found numerous aftermarket Altima lights on Ebay but i'd much prefer to get some local.
Anyone know of any places that sell them?
Cheers.

if you want to get the lights from overseas i can organise it for you, if you are concerned about the possibility of the lights not turning up i can have them sent to an american address first, and then have them forwarded on from there. this has worked flawlessly in the past.

That's be excellent mate.
The lights on EBay are quite a deal cheaper than ones at Online shops. Payment is a problem, I want to pay by credit card not money order or bidpay. Or if possible, I could DD money to your account then you could transfer it to your American contact? I'll give you a fee for your troubles of course. Or even, order the lights from an online store, pay by credit card, get it sent to your contact, get him to forward it on to me.

Here's what i'm looking at...

http://store.racerwheel.org/rt100148.html
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7964870738&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33716&item=7964378105&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7964921507&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

I noticed that the above lights do not have any orange coloured plastic on them for the indicators, so I assume i'll need to change my Bluebird's indicator bulbs from white to orange?
Also, how easy is it to replace your tailights?
Anyone know where I can find a how to for the Bluebird/Altima?
Cheers.

the american contact is izzen from teamnse. i'll have a chat to him about it and see if he is cool with it all first. i've organised with him to help me with a few parts from america that i am after and he's been a great help so far, i just dont want to overload him. i think the way to go about it if you dont have paypal is to transfer the money to me, i'll forward that via paypal to izzen and then he'll send the lights either to me or to you. there is no need for them to come to me obviously, but at least then i know they've arrived Tongue if you have paypal you could organise it with izzen directly and cut me right out of it and you'd get your lights quicker.

just so you're aware, you'd be up for the following costs:

- purchase of lights
- postage from store to izzen
- postage from izzen to australia

as for changing the tail lights, its pretty easy. you'll need a 10mm spanner, there will be around 4-6 bolts on each light. undo all the bolts, detach the wiring loom, then with a bit of force, push the lights out, you'll probably have to give them a good solid hit with your hand as they're sealed in with sikaflex.

lightly and evenly apply sikaflex to the new light, but not too much because you dont want that shit getting all over your paint, install the lights, tighten all bolts and then re-attach the harness.

you'll be able to buy orange globes at supercheap, repco or autobarn for a few dollars, either that or you could go to a hobby shop and buy an opaque orange paint and a little paint brush.

Excellent, cheers mate.
I'll sign up at www.paypal.com.au for the mean time, then when you have a chance, if you could speak to your mate about it that'd be great. I can get the lights from an online store for like $50 more. But if getting them sent to your mate, and then me, would be the best option (to avoid customs tax) i'd be willing to split the $50 between you and your mate.

Also, where can I buy sikaflex? Never heard of it...
Thanks mate.

And yeah, I like the BMW style lights best too.

EDIT - actually might just transfer the money by DD to you then you can paypal it to your mate.

EDIT - does anyone know if you can get these in Australia? Just realised I'd be up for about $100 USD in shipping alone!

Hi, I would also be interested in some aftermarket/altezza u13 bluey taillights. Just checking, is it definate that the US altima and the aussie bluey has the same size taillights? I've asked this question on a few other sites, but no one seems to know. I've seen that the NZ bluey's have slightly smaller taillights than the aussie's.
Cheers,

I've heard everywhere that the 93-97 Bluebird sold in Australia is exactly the same as the 93-97 Altima (Bluebird) sold in the US. So yes, same size tailights.

have been given the go ahead by izzen on the tail lights. let me know when you're ready and we'll organise how we'll get the money to izzen and then he'll organise the rest.

also postage costs to australia - i wouldnt expect the shipping cost to be as high as what it listed on ebay, they're total rip off artists at the best of times when you're getting postage quotes from the usa to america.

for example, something i bought from ebay america i was charged US$20 postage, the receipt on the postage sticker said $1.70. izzen wont charge you stupid ammounts for postage. he'll ask for what it costs.

Cheers mate.
Another question, if I get it sent to Izzen, and then to me, will I get slugged with customs charges?
Last time I got something in from a store in the US, I was hit with $160 in customs charges.
I'm still considering if its worth it to fork out for tailights :|

oh, they blink in the same bit as the reverse light

And use different bulbs right?
Will any old orange supercheap auto bulb do, or do I need to get one of a certain voltage etc?

Well if there's no customs charge, once i've gotten the replacement indicator bulb, then we're good to go Smiley
