Pintara/Skyline AFM

Hey all,

just wondering is there anyway to bypass the airflow meter on pintaras/skylines or maybe fit a smaller one. Its so huge and im wanting to install a POD Filter.

no there isnt unfortunatly. without it, or with a different one the car wont go... to be honest.. theres no need to remove em on either a skyline or pintara. if u want pics of how to do it on a pintara ill post em up for u

if you cahnge the size of your air flow meter you will need to have your computer retuned to suit this.

the whole idea of making power is for the engine to breath better. if you restrict the engine my making the afm smaller, you will lose power.

i just dont c why ud wanna do it either dude. there are so many skylines and pintaras getting round with pod with the standard AFM
just seems pointless

ok dude the trick with the 31 is to bend the piping (loosen the clamps and turn the piping) so that the bends go down towards the ground first. this will change the angle of the AFM and u will be able to fit a POD in with ease.

It seems obvious to me he's talking about the whole air box setup
With the air flow meter and air flow regulator inbuilt (CA20e)

I simply took the original AFM off the air box. The air box is attached to the AFM on the inside (under where u put the normal filter) it's attached by 4 gold bolts. There a bit hard to get off. I had to use a socket peace & allen key to do it. Once the box is off you simply disconnect the afm from the car and clean it. Then you put on the adaptor (R31 - Rb30 adaptor or VL). Two of the original bolts would not scrue in enough due to the length, as i said before the bolts were originaly from the inside out... when you put the adaptor on you have to revearse that. So i found two smaller bolts and fited that on & then i pushed on the Pod to the adaptor & tightend up the clip. From there it was simply a case of going to the wreckers & finding a rubber hose (i got the same one that's on the ca20e originaly) i cut that to size & put the the hole shebang back on.

I got the parts from autobarn & i must say i was ripped off a little on price but it was not quite as bad as i was expecting. I paid $50 for a TFI racing pod (14 cm tall not including flange) i could have got pods for 35-40 but "shrugz", then i paid 27 for the adaptor & the rubber from the wreckers was $5 so all up $82.

Not to bad when you consider a K&N filter by its self only start from $120. Im not a big autobarn fan but around hear there the only store who has large stocks that kinda thing.

Nah, i dont think your understanding it correctly.
Pintara afm is the small one. RB20 Skyline afm (which he is reffering to ) is much much larger internal diameter.
