NEO VVL is how I roll...

« on: Mar 4, 2010, 09:50AM »

hi , i have been looking for a new car for my mum and have been looking at the dualis, with an mr20de in it. has anyone heard much or have any knowledge with the mr20 , all i can find is its a replacement for the qr, all alloy, about 110 kw. its not an sr replacement. i think it uses vvl, but not 100% on this.  i know that the development of the engine was a joint effort with Renault and it also used in pretty much all Renault 2ltr cars, including the mengene 250 which is turbo 250kw.
also been looking @ the mitsi outlander. both very similar spec wise, with 6 speed cvt on both Undecided. oh and the new Hyundai  Roll Eyes.

The average rounds expended per kill with the M16 in Vietnam was 50,000. Snipers averaged 1.3 rounds.
The cost difference was $2300 v 0.27 cents.

CVTs don't have 'speeds' mate, they're continuously variable.

'Tiptronic mode' is just a simulated manual mode for when you have the urge to play with your stick  Tongue

I'd say the MR20 motor is probably a bit too new for people to hold opinions of it yet.

I may have to eat my words...

I heard a rumour the other day that Nissan have changed the programming of their CVTs to give distinct ratios, so it 'feels right'. Stupid idea if you ask me. If you have fixed ratios you're better off with an old-fashioned auto gearbox.

if it is designed to replace the QR then it must be pretty good, the QR is a freak engine, one of my favorites. must be looked after though.
maybe check the pricing of servicing for each of the mentioned vehicles, mitsubishi are really trying to keep a market here in australia so they are offering everything including their grandmothers...

my mate who is the ex-station chief of Maquarie Island aAntarctic Research joint, he had a D21 Navara for last 15 years i think, anyway he just got the new challenger, and said it is very awesome. the outlander was also on the list, he liked that more than the murano.

i'd go for the mitsu- as it has some very good aftersales care and warrantys etc.

the murano is just a bit to 'soccer mum' for me, basically a jacked up pulsar hatchback!
