Hi all,

I recently went to the vic antrx cruise with my freshly built high comp ka24, appart from the stupid lifters the engine performed great, having said that im already bored with it, cut a long story short is putting a toyota sc14 supercharger onto the 10.1 comp engine viable, im sure someone knows the maths to work it out, im only planing to run about 5psi boost

any input would be appreciated  Grin

cheers

I dont know the maths, but I would think up to about 5psi would work fine.
Thinking about it logically...
Roughly 15psi is an extra atmosphere (1bar), and people do that on standard compression.
You want to put through about a third of this... so 0.3 bar

now the compression of a normal engine would squish something with a volume of 8 into 1 (at 8:1 ratio).  adding 1bar basically makes it 16:1.
Yours is normally 10:1, jumping about 33% to around 13.3:1.

Thats probably very basic and neglects quite a few things, but thats just how i'm thinking of it... the engine should roughly take it about as well as a 8:1 compression engine takes 9.5psi.

Someone smarter please let me know if there are total floors in my logic.

I was reading somewhere a while ago about high comp civics being supercharged. I think it worked out that about 5psi was equivalent to 10psi (give or take) on a standard low compression engine. So the same power with less psi, but more responsiveness.

The good thing was they could just get a standard type r engine and bolt a supercharger up running only 5psi with no trouble.

Fuckin do it Shaun!

KA24 heads will not be able to control the flame front as good as honda motors simply for the reason of an offset spark plug and the larger bore. Don't try compare honda motors with these series of nissan engines lol..

Pedro, you can use E85 in our cars, we run E85 through early 90 honda fuel lines with no problems Smiley.

Just buy them from O&J; I can't sell you a set of my new ones until I have my own new set done and installed in my U12.
They should post them via USPS.

make sure you dont spin the blower over 10,000. it will melt the teflon off the rotors.

(assuming 100% VE) The blower is 1.4L volume per rev. and your engine is 1.2L volume per rev. If you spin the blower at 1:1 you should get 0.17 Bar boost. if you gear it up to maximum, which is 10k at engine 7k, you will need a crank pulley 147% the size of the SC14 pulley, which will give you 0.47 Bar or 6.8-6.9 psi.
Keep the electric clutch on it. Have it turn on at say 50% throttle or higher. Also add a 1sec timer to the relay so it wont turn off between gears.

Should wake it up a bit Smiley

 I predict new tryes...

there is a rebic injector driver on ebay, extreemly retro 90's jap 'ecu' for a single injector
has map sensor
tacho input
injector duty cycle

basic as, it switches on at a certain combination of pressure and revs...

i was going to buy it for controlling water injection, helps with high comp under boost (chemical intercooling)
cleans the carbon out of the 'bustion chamber too...

whatever you do, an Air Fuel Ratio guage is a must (accurate,,,, wideband even)
